About MWP Solicitors

 
       
 

MWP is a new Partnership founded in October 2004 between Lawrence Maudsley and Lorraine Callaghan. Both are solicitors of many years experience in their respective fields and have worked in the Basildon area over a period extending from 1977 in the case of Mr Maudsley and 1987 in the case of Mrs Callaghan.

Both were members of a former firm known as Maudsley Wright & Pearson established by Mr Maudsley and his former partner Mr Wright in 1983.

The primary object of the firm is to provide services which meet the needs of the local community in areas of family law, employment, housing, debt, personal injury, conveyancing and probate. Much of the work undertaken is Publicly Funded.

In the area of Personal Injury litigation the firm operates the Accident Line no win - no fee scheme.

 
 

 

Lorraine Callaghan


Lorraine Callaghan was admitted as a Solicitor in 1992.

Member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel and a Senior Litigator with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

Joined the Firm in 1997 and became a Partner in 2003.

Specialises in Personal Injury and Employment matters.

Particular interest in workplace injuries and industrial disease.

Mrs Callaghan is an experienced advocate and appears before the County Court and Employment Tribunal.

 

Lawrence Maudsley
Lawrence Maudsley trained as a Solicitor in Maldon Essex between 1974 and 1976. Lawrence Maudsley was admitted as a solicitor in 1977 when he first started to work in Basildon. Having left Basildon for 18 months in 1981 he started a firm with Martin Wright in 1983. This firm latterly known as Maudsley Wright & Pearson was dissolved in 2004 following which Lawrence formed the new partnership now practising as MWP Solicitors.

For many years Lawrence has specialised in Family Law and is a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association) which is an organisation formed by Solicitors whose objective is to resolve family disputes with the minimum of hostility. Accredited in Domestic Abuse and Children Law Lawrence is also a member of the Law Society Family Panel and The Law Society Children Panel. He is also a trained mediator. Lawrence appears before the local County Courts and Magistrates Courts on a regular basis as an advocate and provides a personal service to clients from the inception of their cases through to final hearing.

 

Claire O'Brien
Claie O'Brien

Claire obtained a degree in law from the University of Westminster and subsequently completed a Master’s degree in child law at the University of London. She joined MWP Solicitors in September 2004 and qualified as a Solicitor in September 2006 having successfully completed her training here at MWP Solicitors.

Claire specialises in divorce, children issues, employment law, debt and housing matters and has experience of appearing on behalf of clients in the County Courts
